A bold, flavorful crab boil made with juicy crab legs, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes simmered in a seasoned broth. Perfect for gatherings, holidays, or anytime you want a fun, hands-on seafood feast.

Ingredients

  • 6 quarts water

  • 1 large onion, quartered

  • 2 lemons, halved

  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed

  • ½ cup seafood boil seasoning (such as Old Bay or Zatarain’s)

  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning

  • 2 pounds red potatoes, halved

  • 3 ears corn, cut into thirds

  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced

  • 2 pounds snow crab legs

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (optional, for serving)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions

  1. Prepare the boil:
Bring water to a rolling boil in a large stockpot. Add onion, lemons, garlic, seafood boil seasoning, and Cajun seasoning.

  2. Cook the potatoes:
Add potatoes and boil for 10–12 minutes, or until just fork-tender.

  3. Add sausage and corn:
Stir in sausage and corn. Cook for 5 minutes.

  4. Add seafood:
Add crab legs and shrimp. Cook for 4–6 minutes, until shrimp are pink and opaque and crab is heated through.

  5. Drain and serve:
Carefully drain the seafood boil. Transfer to a large serving platter or spread over parchment paper. Drizzle with melted butter and garnish with parsley if desired.

Tips

  • Adjust seasoning to taste—add extra Cajun spice for more heat.

  • Serve with lemon wedges, garlic butter, or cocktail sauce.

  • Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 2 days.
